There aren’t many guys like Guy. 40 years ago, he was a kid obsessed with exploring the ocean and sketching what he found. That curiosity never left. Today, it fuels a brand creating apparel and gear designed for life on the water and built to help protect it.

1963-1978

EARLY YEARS

At the age of eight years old, Guy attends boarding school in England. He regularly draws the wildlife from his native Jamaica whenever he feels homesick. In 1978 Guy graduates from Aberdeen University in Scotland and begins work on his PhD at the University of West Indies (UWI).

1986

THE GUY HARVEY T-SHIRT IS BORN

Guy earns his PhD from UWI and debuts his artwork at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show. Soon after, he signs his first apparel contract and the first iconic Guy Harvey t-shirt hits the water.







1999

GUY HARVEY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Guy Harvey establishes the Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI) at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The GHRI has since become a
worldwide leader in shark and billfish conservation research.

2002

"PORTRAITS FROM THE DEEP"

Guy Harvey’s “Portraits From The Deep” television show premiers. Guy has since hosted television programs on networks around the world, released several award winning full length documentary films, and even maintains his own television channel.



2008

GUY HARVEY OCEAN FOUNDATION

Guy Harvey establishes the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF) to increase Guy’s
capabilities for funding scientific research and to help create educational curricula aimed at conserving the marine environment. In 2021, the name changed to Guy Harvey Foundation.

2010

IGFA FISHING HALL OF FAME & INTERNATIONAL SWIMMING HALL OF FAME

Guy Harvey is inducted into the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame for his contributions to the sport-fishing community. In 2010, he was also inducted into the International
Swimming Hall of Fame and awarded the Gold Medallion Award. Later being inducted International SCUBA Diving Hall Of Fame (2013).

2010

COUNTRY OF PANAMA - VASCO NUNEZ DE BALBOA GRAND OFFICER ORDER

The Vasco Nunez de Balboa Grand Cross is the highest honor the country of Panama bestows on a non-Panamanian. Guy was presented this award for his work to preserve and publicize Panama’s marine resources.



2012

GUY HARVEY OCEANOGRAPHIC RESEARCH CENTER

To honor the Guy Harvey partnership, Nova Southeastern University named the newest research building on its Oceanographic campus the Nova Southeastern University Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center. Along with Guy’s signature on the side of the facility, his name also adorns the roof of the building.



2015

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE
Norwegian Cruise Line christens the Guy Harvey themed cruise ship, Norwegian Escape.

2023

LIFETIME SCIENCE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD BILLFISH FOUNDATION

Guy is awarded the Paxon H Offield Lifetime Science Achievement Award from The Billfish Foundation for his contributions to billfish research and education.

2024

CCA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT & SEAKEEPER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Guy receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Coastal Conservation Association and in the same year is also awarded the SeaKeeper of the Year by the International SeaKeepers Society.

2026

GUY HARVEY DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE

The Guy Harvey Documentary, by Emmy Award winning director Nick Nanton, was the closing film to a sell-out crowd at the 40th Annual International Fort Lauderdale Film Festival.
